Ewa Anehult

My name is Ewa Anehult, I was born in 1956 in Umeå Sweden. I have been deeply passionate about painting and drawing for as long as I can remember. Sewing has also been a long-standing interest of mine, and I enjoy experimenting and coming up with something of my own that creates a feeling I want to convey by mixing different techniques. For example, in my acrylic painting, I mix different fabrics to add texture and depth to my pieces.

I aim to let my creativity guide and govern my actions. I work with textile patterns, both handprint (screen) and digital. Acrylic painting on canvas is a medium I particularly enjoy working with, as it allows me to incorporate elements of various textile fabrics. During 2022, I had the opportunity to work with merino wool and silk fabrics, which added a new dimension to my artwork.

I am a trained art teacher, textile teacher, and media teacher and have worked with these subjects for a long time. At the end of my working career, I worked as a lecturer at the Umeå University Department of Aesthetics and taught prospective art teachers. They have learned various techniques in painting, graphic techniques, Photoshop, etc. I have also been involved in building up the Maja Beskowskolan in the subjects of art and crafts. I work partly at Maja Beskowskolan today when I have time to spare.

Since 2009, I have been a member of Textilmejeriet, which is located in Kulturmejeriet's building in Röbäck. Every year we have had exhibitions and it has been fun and rewarding to be able to show your creations.

In 2014, we were around thirteen artists from Textilmejeriet who received an assignment in connection with the year's Capital of Culture. Our theme was THE CITY. It was a great opportunity to showcase our talents and creativity to a wider audience and to collaborate with other artists.

As an artist, I am constantly seeking new ways to express myself and push the boundaries of my medium. My goal is to create artwork that evokes emotion and inspires others to explore their own creativity. I am excited to continue to share my work with others through exhibitions, teaching and mentoring, and by being an active member of Textilmejeriet.
